Boards; waterproof paper; weighting pulp:- The burgy from glass works is treated by levigation and used in the manufacture of waterproof or other paper pulp boards and straw boards or paper &c. The burgy is run with water through a series of settling tanks, and the sludge is used as a filling mixed with the usual fibrous materials in the above - named manufactures. For American cloth, soluble cellulose is dissolved in volatilÚ solvent and castor oil with the addition of very fine burgy, the mixture being spread over cloth', rolled, and dried.
