Rivets; studs; washers.-The rivets or studs used to prevent wheel tyres from skidding have circular or angular dished washers a which prevent the heads of the rivets or studs from cutting the treads b of the tyres. When the washers are angular, they can be arranged close together to protect the tyres from puncture, as shown in Fig. 5, which illustrates circular washers each having four projections.
