Carburetting.-In the "petrolite" type of lamp or heating apparatus the carburettor is arranged at a higher level than the burner or burners, preferably within range of the heat from the burners, and its discharge opening d2 is preferably a little above its floor. The preferably annular carburettor may contain cotton, glasswool, asbestos, sand bricks, or preferably perforated, recessed, or grooved blocks B of common salt, a part or the whole of the blocks being raised above the floor of the carburettor.
