10,418. Murray, W. E. May 3. Breakwaters; docks.-Comprises improvements in the type of steady floating structures described in Specification No. 19,654, A.D. 1904. The portion of the structure that extends beyond the central part E is entirely closed over, and, instead of being charged with sand, gravel, or other heavy material, the compartments Hare made water-tight so that the structure may be loaded with water. In addition, an annular flange B surrounds the structure and is secured to it by gussets F, D. The upper portion of the structure is supported by ties P attached to a pillar K. Several forms of the superstructure are described in the Specification, the floating portion being suitable as a foundation for buildings, such as hotels, hospitals, bridges, lighthouses, floating batteries, and fortifications. Fig. 6 shows, the construction when used as a breakwater.
