12,889. Stitt, W. R. June 2. Loom stop-motions ; w a r p, d e - tecting faults in. -Relates to the warp stop - motion described in Specification No. 11,349, A.D. 1903. The catch-bar E, Figs. 1 and 6, is made of round section and is formed at the top with a longitudinal groove e, which is engaged by an internal tongue or projection a' on the loop a of a fallen heald when the heald frame is at its lower position, the tension of the intact warps raising the corresponding loops from the bar E. The catch-bar is provided with a crank e1 which engages with a slotted cam f on the normally stationary rod F, the movement of the heald up and down giving two half-revolutions to the crank and bar E. When a warp-breakage occurs and the rotation of the bar E is prevented, the rod F is raised and stops the loom, a wire g, Fig. 12, attached to the upper connecting-rod, withdrawing a pivoted latch g1 and thus allowing a block or shutter H on the stop-rod to fall into the path of a pin on the lay, so that the knocking- off handle is actuated, or the loom is stopped otherwise. If desired, the rising rod F may actuate a normally-horizontal semaphore or signal F1, Fig. 10a, which is then kept in its vertical position by a spring until the attendant replaces it in its normal position. The semaphore may carry a ratchet R which is normally out of the path of, but is then placed in position to be operated by, a pawl r on a reciprocating lever, the wire g referred to above being, in this case, adapted to be wound up, so that the loom is stopped after a definite interval of time. Loom lifting-cord equivalents.-The heald frames are adjustably connected by straps K, Fig. 11, and screws k to the top roller R1, a similar screw and strap being applied to the bottom of the heald frame.
