Aug. 23, Loading; conveyers. - Travelling trippers or dischargers for endless band conveyers such as are employed for stacking spent residues are driven independently of the conveyer belt and are automatically reversed at the ends of the travel. Means are also described for distributing the material in any desired direction and for throwing the material in advance of the extremity of the conveyer so as to form a pile upon which tracks may be laid and the conveyer extended. The travelling wheels of the tripper run upon a track 75 and are enclosed in casings 6. They are driven from the shaft of a motor enclosed in a casing 21 through a worm engaging a worm-wheel on the transverse shaft 15. The shaft 15 has bevel-wheels engaging reversing- bevels enclosed in a casing 13 and mounted on a shaft 8 having worms engaging worm-wheels on the travelling wheels. A lever 28 operates the reversing-clutches on the shaft 8, and this may be actuated either by a hand-lever 30 or by a depending lever engaging stops on the track at the ends of the travel. The conveyer belt 48 passes over rollers 39, 44, 47 on the frame. A belt cleaner 57 is driven from the shaft of the roller 44. The residues are discharged from the belt through a hopper 58 into a hopper 59 secured by cleats 60 to a ring beneath the hopper 5'8 and thence into a. centrifugal distributor 61 driven from a motor enclosed in a casing 66. The distributing-: device is adjustable upon a semicircular angle plate 68 to discharge in any direction. The power for driving the motors is derived from the lines 72 through trollies 71. When operating upon an incline, a rack is laid at the side of the track and the distributor turned to discharge beyond the forward end of the conveyer, Fig. 6. As the material accumulates in front of the conveyer, the tracks are extended and a new length inserted in the belt. The tripper is then rim to the forward end and the piling proceeds as before.
