A continuouslv variable inductance consists of two coils wound on concentric spherical surfaces and relatively movable. Figs. 1 and 2 show the preferred construction. The inner coil a is mounted on a carrier b journaled within a carrier formed of two pieces d, e, fitting together at f and carrying the outer coil c. A layer of insulating-material i is placed between the coils. The coils preferably consist of strands or cables, which may be coated with enamel and do not exceed 0À2 mm. in diameter.
