327. Stevens, W. A. Jan. 5. No Patent granted (Sealingfee not paid). Switches. - Relates to detail modifications of the dynamo and switch described in Specification No. 13,903, A.D. 1906. Four working. positions are given by the switch, two forward, one reverse, and one neutral, and each half of the dynamo armature is controlled by its own multiple - contact resistance. The invention is described as applied to a petrol electric car, but may be adapted -t o an n electric car supplied by batteries. The switch is of similar construction to that in the above Specification, there 'being 13 contacts, of which Nos. 10 and 12 are dead, Nos. 1-6 connected to the dynamo circuit, and the rest are in the motor circuits. In the parallel position of the armature halves b, b1, current from the + side of part b passes through its own regulating-resistance g to the segment 6, from which it is bridged by a brush r to the segment 3 and unites with the similarly regulated current from the part b1 of the armature. Current then passes to the section 11, through a brush s to the segment 8, between which and the segment 7 the motor armature e is connected. From the segment 7, through a brush t and the segment 9, the current passes through the field f of the motor to the segment 1, part returning to the half b of the armature, and part through a brush and the segment 5 to the other half b1. Besides the above connexions, the contact 9 is connected to the contact 13, and the contact 2 to the contact 4. By rotatiou of the arm, the armature halves may be put in series, or the current may be reversed through the motor armature -with the dynamo armature halves in parallel ; or when no brush is on segment 11, the current is broken entirely.
