4693. Palmer, I. E. Feb. 26. Thread-guides.-A bearing-plate is used for securing the looped shank of thread-guides, formed by bending wire so as to form a shank at one end and an eye at the other, to the thread-board, allowing universal adjustment of the former, means being provided to prevent displacement of the bearing-plate. Distension of the thread-guide loop is prevented either by projections on the bearing-plate, or by the retaining-washer. The bearing-plate may be rectangular, as shown in Fig. 2, or circular, as shown in Fig. 5, and its displacement is prevented either by spurs 9,10, Fig. 3 which engage the thread-board, or by cross-hatching its bearing-surface. Side flanges 5, 6 may be fitted to retain the shank ; or a seat 14 may project from the bearing-plate, side flanges being fitted to the retaining -washer 16 ; or the bearing-plate may be reversed as shown in Fig. 18, in which case it is held in position by either one or two screws.
