Bottles, washing &c.-In bottle-washing machines of the intermittently-rotated carrying-disk type, the bottles are supported in such a manner that their entire surfaces are exposed to the action of the brushes, clamps or similar holding-devices being dispensed with. The disk 12, loosely mounted upon the shaft 4, is given a step-by-step motion in any suitable manner and receives the inverted bottles 15. The latter are supported between a friction wheel 16 and a series of resiliently-mounted rails 18 secured to the frame of the machine, while lateral support is afforded by pivoted forked levers 25. The friction wheel 16 is fixed to the continuously-driven shaft 4 so that the bottles are rotated on their own axes. At the places where the brushing occurs, the rails 18 are omitted, the bottles being then pressed against the friction wheel by the external brushes 21. The internal and stoppercleaning rotary brushes 31, 32 are mounted on a sliding frame 33 raised at each stoppage of the disk 12 by means of a lever 35, roller 36, and cam 37, while the bottom cleaning brush 42 is similarly operated by a lever 43, roller 44, and cam 45. When the bottles have completed their journeys, they are automatically ejected from the carrier by the engagement of the lower ends of levers 25 with a fixed guide-surface 28.
