Alarm and signal guns.-Automatic apparatus for scaring birds or animals, sounding signals, and other like purposes comprises a rotary cartridge magazine, a firing-pin, and a short gun barrel, provided with a sound intensifier. The magazine consists of a circular disk mounted on a removable spindle i carried by lugs g projecting from the main casting a bolted to a box b. The cartridges are held in a ring of holes n by a loose plate q, and the disk j is rotated by clock-work, water, wind, or electric or other power acting through the spur-wheel k. The firing-pin e is pressed forward by a spring t, and is rigidly connected to a sliding rod f, which engages with inclined teeth p on the magazine j. The pin e may be drawn back by means of a head y and fixed in'position by a catch v, which may also hold the box b open. The front of the magazine may bear against a friction roller w. The sound intensifier consists of a trumpet-shaped extension of the barrel c.
