Improvements in the Recovery of Iron Copper and Zinc from Liquors containing the same

Copper hydrates and carbonates; iron hydrates and carbonates; zinc hydrates and carbonates.- Iron, copper, and zinc are precipitated, in order, from solutions containing the same, such as liquors obtained in the wet copper process, by successive additions of an alkali or an alkaline earth, or a carbonate of either, in quantities equivalent to the respective metals. At the first addition of alkali &c., sufficient is added to neutralize any free acid and precipitate the iron. Precipitation is advantageously effected from warm solutions, and the copper may be in the cuprous or cupric state.
