Metal pipes and tubes. -A machine for upsetting or thickening the edges and simultaneously expanding or reducing the ends of metal tubes and the like comprises a pair of shaping-dies 3, 5 and an upsetting-tool 16 mounted in the open front of a framework 1. The shaping-dies act on the tube and in sections to expand or reduce it, the lower die being fixed and the upper being operated by an hydraulically-actuated lever 7. After each operation of the shaping-dies, the upsetting-tool is pressed between the shaping-dies by a ram to thicken the tube. A trolly running on rails in front of the machine has an hydraulically-elevated table 23 to support the tube. A fire 27 is also provided for heating the tube.
