摘要
21,381. Bing, F. Sept. 26.. Starch is washed out of potato or maize mash &c. in a semicylindrical or cylindrical sieve or perforated casing, with the aid of brushes and associated scoops rotated therein coaxially with the sieve or upon an axle parallel' with the axis of the latter. The mash enters the casing a of wire-gauze or perforated tin, Fig. 1, through an inlet 1 and is carried along by a spiral g mounted on the same shaft b as the brushes c and scoops d which are arranged in front of each brush. These scoops lift the material up into an horizontal position, where it is washed by a stream of water from a pipe e which extends the length of the casing on one side. The material is then flung to the other side of the apparatus to be further worked by brushes and scoops. A trough f receives the washed-out starch from the casing a. Outlets 3, 4 are provided for the 'starch and pulp respectively. In the modification comprising a cylindrical sieve a, Fig. 4, the sieve is rotated, as well as the brush and scoop mechanism, and oppositely thereto.
