摘要
22,171. Kapff, S. von. Oct. 8. Dyeing.-Closely-woven webs and felt are dyed with alizarine, indigo, &c. by passing the material through the solution and then at full width over a suck off machine, which causes the solution to impregnate the material thoroughly. After this, the goods are boiled in the dyeing - vat, fixed, steamed, dried, &c. ; or the fixing-means may be drawn through the goods. In the case of indigo dyeing, sufficient air is stated to be sucked through the goods for them to be dyed and fixed simultaneously. After being acidified and washed, the goods may again undergo the sucking process. In another example the material, such as felt, " esquimau," and cloth for uniforms or overcoats, is impregnated as usual with a solution of potassium chromate and formic acid or cream of tartar &c., and then passed over a suck-off machine. The material is next boiled or steamed, and afterwards dyed with a solution of alizarine or dyewood and sucked off. Goods may be treated with the sucking-apparatus in the bath as well as after removal therefrom.
