Blanlcets; copying-presses.-A flexible sheet or fabric, more particularly for use as a printers' blanket, as a packing or as a cushion in copying- presses &c., consists of a woven or other fabric coated with a mixture of gelatinized starch and magnesium chloride, together with a small proportion of other substances such as zinc chloride, zinc oxide, calcium chloride magnesia, gelatine, glycerine, paraffin oil, or resin if desired. Flour may be mixed with, or used in place of, the starch. The composition may be laid on the fabric, which has been previously steeped in magnesium chloride solution, and may be rolled in a similar manner to that employed for rubber sheeting. The fabric may be American cloth, and may be varnished or waterproofed after application of the composition. The composition is similar to that described in Specification No. 1083, A.D. 1908, [Abridgment Class India-rubber &c.].
