Improved Means for Starting and Regulating Compensated Electric Repulsion Motors.

Motors, alternating-current; motors, controlling.- Compensated repulsion motors having a magnetizing rotor-circuit connected in series or in shunt with the main stator winding E, F, Fig. 2, are regulated by adjusting the magnetizing-brushes C, D into different positions in relation to the axis of the stator winding. The brushes A, B are stationary, and sparking may be reduced at those brushes by providing the stator with commutating-windings. In the Latour motor shown in Fig. 3, in which the brushes are short-circuited in pairs, a diametrically opposite pair of brushes C, D is adjusted relatively to the other pair A, B, the adjustable brushes preferably being those which carry the smallest current. In applying the invention to a motor of the type invented by Arnold and La Cour, having a pair of short-circuited brushes and one magnetizing - brush, the magnetizing - brush is displaced in relation to the short-circuited brushes.
