Packing and filling food into bags. - In an apparatus for automatically feeding horses and other animals, filling bags, and like industrial purposes, a wooden receptacle a, to hold a predetermined amount of food or other material, is provided with a hinged bottom d, which is secured in the closed position by a spring- controlled catch f. The catch f engages a slot h in a flexible armature i of an electro-magnet k, which is energized at a predetermined time from a clock circuit or by a hand-operated switch. The outward travel of the armature i is limited by a screw q, and a stop r may be employed to limit the forward movement of the catch f.
