5243. Ross, J. H. March 4. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Reservoirs, attaching to lanterns.-The reservoir b of a lamp such as is used on motor-cars and bicycles, or a ship, hurricane, or like lantern, is secured in position by means of a rotatable locking-ring c having slots c5, through which pass pins b2 on the reservoir, and spring tongues c2 with depressions c3, Fig. III, for engaging the pins. A spring wire d locks the ring c when in the position for disengaging the reservoir. The ring is held between a shoulder a2 and a wire a' sprung into a groove in the lamp base a, and is provided with a handle c' which operates between the ends a4, a5 of a slot in the base. The winding-spindle fits in the stop b 1 which engages the slot a1 and so prevents rotation of the reservoir. The wire d is secured by the end d' to the upper part of the base a, and has a bent part d2 and a downwardlyturned end d3. The reservoir is released by turning the ring until the handle c1 reaches the slot end a5, thus bringing the slots c5 beneath the pins b2. The end d3 of the wire d then engages the hole c6 in the ring, and so keeps it in position for the re-insertion of the reservoir. When this is replaced, one of the pins b2 strikes against the part d2 of the locking-wire and thus releases the ring, which, is then turned into the locking-position, Fig. II. The securing- mechanism may be placed at the neck of the reservoir or in any other position, and any number of spring tongues and supporting-pins may be used.
