Improved Process for the Manufacture of Salts Derived from the Alkaline, Alkaline Earthy and Earthy Peroxides.

Peroxide acids, salts of. - Salts of alkali, alkaline-earth, and earth metals containing oxygen easily liberated as hydrogen peroxide by suitable solvents, such as water, are produced by the action of the respective peroxides on the corresponding acids or their esters in the presence of a liquid that does not appreciably dissolve hydrogen peroxide, such as acetone, chlorinated carbon derivatives, hydrocarbons, &c. In examples, salts are prepared from sodium peroxide and formic acid, benzoic acid, and acetic ether. Instead of sodium peroxide, potassium, barium, calcium, strontium, magnesium, or zinc peroxide may be used ; and in place of the above-mentioned acids any acid such as acetic, propionic, or any other fatty or aromatic acid of the formula R (COOH)n, " n " being any number from 1-6, may be used. The Specification in its original form, as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), also describes the interaction of the components directly, without the presence of a diluting-agent ; this subject-matter does not appear in the Complete Specification as accepted.
