Type-wheel actions; keyboards.-Relates to typedrum machines of the class wherein the type-drum 8, Fig. 1, is rotated from the key-levers 1, 2, by means of an irregularly serrated slide 4, Figs. 1 and 3, the inclines of the teeth of which determine the horizontal movement of the slide. The type-drum is swung for impression by engagement of a universal bar 9 against an abutment 10 on the type-drum bearing 11, which is pivoted below the key-levers at the level of the rack 5 on the slide 4. The serrations of the slide are of uniform pitch at the base. and the key-levers are arranged either two or three to each gap. The slide is returned by means of two symmetrical bell-crank levers 15, 16, which are connected together by a pin 19 and slot or otherwise, and co-operate with a pin 28 on the slide, one lever 15 being connected to a spring 18. Axial adjustment of the type-drum is effected by means of a lever 26 and three shift keys disposed in a triangle in the order of the signs on the character keys. Letter-spacing mechanism.-The usual spacing- dog carrier 21 is fixed directly on a shaft 3 common to the universal bar and the key-levers.
