[Cognate Application, 6315/10.] Cooling water.-In apparatus for cooling water, or for treating gases with liquids, in which a rotor revolves in a tank enclosed in a chamber through which a current of air is forced, the rotor consists of a hub A provided with radiating arms C between which sheets of metal are wound concentrically or spirally around the hub. The sheets may be indented, or they may be held apart by distancepieces F threaded on the arms. The distance-pieces may be oval or oblong, with the holes towards one end, and the washers may be split to give them a better grip. A form of distance - piece provided with horns, wings, &c. is shown in Fig. 5, the horns forming radial grooves down which may flow the water picked up by the washer. Two or more drums may be joined together by a hub or centre-piece of branched, Y-, or T-section.
