Combined with other types of pumps. -A centrifugal pump 6, arranged in the suction pipe 8 of a feed-pump 9, in order to augment the pressure in the suction pipe, is provided with a by-pass pipe 10, which is fitted with a non-return valve 11, thus enabling the feedpump to draw water automatically from the feed-tank 1 when the centrifugal pump is stopped or breaks down.
