Drawing wire.-A continuous wire-drawing machine has the drawing-drums arranged in series, one series on each side of the bench, and others in rows one above the other, each series being driven by a separate motor, and each drawing-drum of a series being driven at a suitable speed from the previous one. The shafts 2 are driven from a motor 4 through toothed gearing 5, 6 and chain gearing 8, 9, which is enclosed in a lubricating-bath 10, the winding-drums 3 and draw-plate holders 12 being encased also in an oil-tank 11, which may be lifted and lowered by means of levers; thus the wire, as it is drawn, projects oil on to the dies and cools them, enabling the wire to be drawn at the maximum speed. The shafts 2 are mounted on ball bearings, Fig. 6. The wire as it passes through the last die 16 held in a box 14 is wiped and dried and wound on the last drum 3, whence it is led to a spool 20 driven by reversed cones. The stand of the machine may be partitioned off into compartments for storing accessories.
