Staiths and elevated structures.-Comprises ship-coaling apparatus in which a conveyer, adjustable vertically, is mounted on a turntable adapted to run on rails along the deck of the collier. A wheeled carriage 6 runs over the hatch of the collier, and is provided with a turntable carrying uprights 22 from which an elevator 31 is suspended by means of a rope 69. The elevator is guided on the uprights by brackets 35 so as to be adjustable vertically, and is driven, as shown in Fig. 3, by a sprocketwheel 42 which engages with the vertical part of an endless chain 38a passing around the bottom sprocket of the elevator. The uprights and the turntable are stayed by guide-rollers 24 bearing against supports 7 on the carriage, which are braced against additional outer rails 5. The elevator delivers by means of an intermediate shoot into a flexible telescopic shoot 55, the length of which is adjusted by a rope 59.
