Enamelling.-To enable enamelling and other industrial operations to be more easily effected in a cabinet or enclosure provided with means for confining and expelling poisonous, noxious, or objectional gases, vapours, dust, &c., the work to be operated upon is conveyed to and from the cabinet on a travelling carriage, which is adapted to form a closure for the entrance opening in the cabinet. The invention is described in connexion with a cabinet D in which iron castings are sprayed with enamel in the form of a liquid slip. The travelling carriage C is provided with boards H1, H2, slightly larger than, and adapted to close the gap J in the wall of the cabinet, the rim of the gap being packed with felt, rubber, &c. The work is preferably placed on a turntable L. Slots M, N for the introduction of the arms of the operator may be provided with air-tight sleeves. The pipe 0 is connected to a fan or other source of draught. The cabinet may be provided with panes of glass, or if these are replaced by sheet iron the cabinet is illuminated internally. Powdered enamel for dusting hot castings may be distributed by a jigger sieve.
