Mantelpieces.-A mantelboard is secured to a shelf by a series of fasteners, each of which comprises a boss b1, with clamping - arms b4 and hooks b5, mounted on a threaded member a1, screwed into or attached by a plate to the mantelboard. The boss b1 may be tapped, or may have a plain hole and be pressed by a wing-nut, the upper face of the boss being hollowed or inclined. The fasteners may also be attached to extensions of the mantelboard secured thereto by dowels. Specification 3871/00 is referred to.
