Piston apparatus for discharging receptacles. -In a pen for advertisement writing &c., of the kind consisting of a colour-receptacle provided at the lower end with a nozzle controlled by a spring- returned valve, and at the upper end with a piston for forcing the colouring - m a t t a r through the nozzle, the valve spring is adjustable for tension, and is made detachable in order that the valve may be removed for cleaning. One end of the valve spring h engages a notch g in an extension f of the valve d, and the other end is received in one of a number of notches k in the nozzle c. A cap l screws on the extension f, and retains the spring h in position.
