Teaching gunnery practice.-Consists in a device for obtaining practice in locating the bursting of a shell, the object being to imitate the actual conditions by substituting a photograph, drawing, or model, for the field of action, an electric spark for the flash on bursting, and an electric bell or buzzer for the gun-fire. The apparatus shown in the Drawings comprises (1) a screen, Fig. 1, provided with a number of sparking-points R, K at the intersections of vertical and horizontal wires A, B, C ... 1, 2, 3..., Fig. 2; and (2) a switch, Fig. 3, having two arms m, l for placing any one of the vertical wires A, B, C ... and of the horizontal wires 1, 2, 3 ... in the secondary circuit of an induction coil.
