Telephone signals, recording and reproducing. - A microphonic transmitter b is connected with cells a and the primary coil of a transformer c, the secondary coil of which is connected by telephone wires e with two loudspeaking telephone receivers f, y. The receiver f has an ordinary trumpet ear-piece h, but the receiver g has its diaphragm casing n connected by telescoping tubes m, l with the recording- diaphragm i and recording-stylus j for impressing on the wax record k. The wires carrying the receiver g are flexible to permit the traverse along the record. Records prepared in this way, with the address of the person for whom they are intended, may be sent, like telegrams, to a telegraph office provided with this apparatus, to be transmitted, by having the phonograph sound-box connected by sliding tubes to the mouthpiece of the microphone transmitter.
