28,215. Cotton, R, S. Dec. 5. Roller-and-breast mills.-A machine for cutting bones, flesh, vegetables, &c., comprises a drum which carries toothed cutters c and rotates in an eccentric casing E. T h e materials to be cut are fed in at the top, and are carried forward by the e drum until they are wedged sufficiently to permit the cutters to remove a slice. The material is thus moved gradually towards the base of the machine until it is all cut away. The cut slices pass through the openings in front of each cutter into the interior of the drum, and are thrown out by centrifugal action from the part of the drum that projects beyond the casing. The lower part of the periphery of the casing may be hinged so that it can be adjusted to varying distances from the drum. In some cases, the cutters c do not extend the whole width of the periphery of the drum, and in other cases, each tooth of the cutters projects through a separate hole therein.
