Levels, regulating.-Wort is drawn off from below the false bottom of a mashtun bv a pivoted draw-off pipe 9, which is automatically maintained just below the level of liquid in the tun, either by a float 14 in the receiving- vessel 7 or by clockwork mechanism. The wort from the pipes 4 passes to a pipe 5, thence along one arm of the pipe 9 and returns along the second arm and passes into a sample vessel 15 or direct to the vessel 7. Siphon action in the pipe 9 is prevented by an air inlet 19. The rate at which the draw-off pipe 9 falls is adjusted by a series of hooks 20 to one of which the float chain 13 is attached. The weight of the pipe 9 is counterbalanced in its lower positions by a weight 23.
