Sleeve joints; overlap joints w i t h yielding outer pipe compressed by packing wrapped by rotating sleeve.-A sleeve a, with a slot b through which a tape c passes and is wrapped upon itself by rotating the sleeve, is applied to compressing a loose or like pipe on to a rigid pipe e, tap, &c. The slot b has a chisel edge c2 to extrude the end of the tape when the sleeve is rotated in the reverse direction to unmake the joint.
