29,714. TÚpins, A. Dec. 21. Firing-appliances applicable generally; safety appliances applicable generally.-Relates to electrical firing-mechanism, in which the gun can be fired only when an electric circuit is completed by conductors worn by the marksman. According to the invention, which is shown in connexion with a double-barrelled gun, one pole x1 of the battery x is connected through insulated conductors u, q, i1 with the insulated metal rod e which, by a pull on the trigger m can be moved forwards, against the pressure of a spring h, to bring its head e3 into contact with the primer. The pull required on the trigger may be varied by the adjusting-nut e1. The other pole x2 is connected through a metal shutter z, adapted to give access to the battery x, with a plate y insulated from a surrounding metal ring b1 connected through a strip c1 with the trigger guard c2, and thence, through the hinge block b, with the cartridge o. To fire the gun, the ring b1 and plate y are connected by the contact of the butt with a metal pad worn on the marksman's shoulder; the circuit is then completed by passing the trigger. A sliding spring-contact h3 is adapted to make or break the circuit when it is moved to the front or rear of its seating h'. In a modification, the conductor c1 is absent, or contact is broken bv adjusting the slide h', and the circuit is completed by connecting the metal shoulder-pad to a glove fitted with metallic parts adapted to complete the circuit through the hinge block b. In this case, the battery x may be placed in the marksman's pocket. The mechanism is in duplicate from the nut t forward in order to enable both barrels to be fired by the same battery.
