Chairs with separate jaws; chairs, securing to sleepers; sleepers, chairs, and parts, arrangement of; sleepers, composite &c. - Reinforcedconcrete sleepers comprise similar reversible blocks 1, 2, Fig. 3, with their meeting ends recessed at 3 to receive spring joining members. The rails are secured by chairs comprising two parts 29, 30, Figs. 8 and 9, with lugs 31, 36 entering recesses in the sleeper, the lugs 36 passing through apertures 34 in the part 29. The part 30 has ears 38 receiving eye-bolts 42, Fig. 3, secured by bolts 43 to the sleeper. The reinforcement is extended at each end of the blocks to form eyes 7 which are engaged by hooks 45, Fig. 5, so that the blocks may be connected to form a continuous series of complete sleepers for one or two tracks. Reinforcedconcrete spacing-blocks with extended eyes may be used between adjacent sleepers. The recesses 3 in the blocks 1, 2 receive a casing 19, Fig. 4, into which the eyes 7 extend, where they receive rods 20, 21 connected by a spring 26.
