Checking picking-sticks.-A buffer for underpick looms consists of U-shaped leather strips 1 and intermediate leather strips 3 secured together by means of stitches and bolts 5, 7, the bolts 5 serving to secure the buffer to a metallic bracket 6 which is bolted to the loom. A wearing-strip 8 of raw hide is secured to the leather strips 1, 3 by means of screws 9.
