Flat extended surfaces, surfacing.-Apparatus for rubbing, grinding, and polishing mosaic, terrazzo, parquet flooring, walls or ceilings comprises a pendulous weight which swings under manual or mechanical force and in swinging operates rubbing-tools. The pendulous weight A, Fig. 1, may be mounted in a frame and have pivotally attached to it arms F carrying rubbing-tools B which traverse the floor as the weight swings; or the weight A, Fig. 4, may be mounted at one end of a bar pivoted at its middle, the other end carrying pivotally mounted tools B to operate on the ceiling or roof of a subway or tunnel when the weight swings.
