Floats for aerial machines.-An aerial machine is provided with a boat body elastically connected to land-wheels and having lateral keels which act as skids when landing on the ground. The boat has a double bottom b, c, and the wheel axle i passes through a part which is shut off from the float by walls s, s1. Elastic bands n, n1 connect the axle i to a fixed bar m, and are strong enough to support the machine on the ground. In case of shock, the skids a contact with the ground. The rear land-wheel is connected with a single or double rudder for steering on land, water, or air. The under surface b of the boat may be flat or concave, and the front wheels r, r1 are hollow disks to give buoyancy to the machine. The skin of the boat may be of aluminium, duralumin, &c. The parts are arranged so that the planes have a larger angle of incidence when the machine is resting on water than when it is on the ground. The device may be applied to a machine fitted with the propellers described in Specifications 25,749/10, 2041/11, and 4165/11, [all in Class 4, Aeronautics], as shown in Fig. 3.
