This lever is adapted to be depressed against the action of a spring r by a treadle connexion q; when the upper is sufficiently stretched, a screw or other plug p is inserted in the hole f to clamp the strings b1, d1. The two parts of the lever m are yieldingly connected, to avoid breaking the strings when the treadle is depressed too suddenly.
