摘要
21,880. Snowdon, F. Seaton-. April 4, 1912. Impregnating - compositions. - Cotton and other fibres and fabrics are fireproofed by saturating them with a solution of borax and boracic acid, and then treating with a solution of a substance, such as lead acetate, lead nitrate, lead sulphate, manganese chloride, magnesium chloride, zinc sulphate or zinc chloride, to convert the borax and boracic acid into insoluble borate. In the treatment of cotton fibres, the fibres are cleaned', then agitated in the solution of borax and boracic acid at 120‹ F., or at the boiling-point of the liquid, then cooled to 60‹ F., deprived of excess of liquid, and dried. It is then immersed in the solution of lead acetate &c. at about 60‹ F., and dried. An alternative treatment consists in immersing the fibres in the solution of borax &c. at about 70‹ F. under vacuum, and then, if necessary, running in more solution under pressure. They are then immersed in the solution of lead acetate &c.
