Railways for recreation.-Relates to a scenic railway which is so constructed as to give the passengers the impression that they are travelling on skis on a mountainous course. A car a, Fig. 1, runs on rails below a track e and pillars or brackets j secured to the car project upwards through a narrow slot d in the track e and support a small platform c. In order to prevent derailment, small wheels p pivoted on the car engage beneath rails r secured to the structure of the track. Vertical iron rods b, b1 are fixed in sockets on the platform c, or they may be arranged to swing to and fro, and a body-belt x, Fig. 4, is attached to sleeves y sliding on each pair of rods. The feet of the pasengers are secured to skis s which can move backwards and forwards on the platform c. The cars may be driven by electric motors over an undulating course furnished with appropriate scenery.
