Systems with arrangements for compensating load variations.-Each of the separate local circuits constituted by the vehicle-motors and their connexions is fitted with an automatic circuit breaking or current-limiting device, operative upon overload accompanied by fall of potential. The devices may act to reclose the circuits when the potential increases again. According to one modification, a volt-meter relay V in shunt to a car-motor M acts when the potential falls to close a local battery circuit adapted to actuate a switch C in series with an ammeter relay A, which is simultaneously closed upon overload. A second local battery circuit is thus completed, and a winding energized which opens the main switch B. Acording to another modification, a differential series-shunt relay controls the opening and closing of the main switch.
