Overwinding, preventing.-The mechanism for preventing overwinding of winding-engines described in Specification 15,443/12 is modified by inserting a governor-controlled distance-piece between the travelling tappets and the arm for releasing the stop gear. The stepped or bevelled block Z mounted on a vertical rod Z2 is adjustable vertically by a lever connexion to the governor sleeve N. The rod Z2 rests against the trip lever M, and if the speed is too high during the last revolution of the winding-drum, the block Z is interposed between the trip lever M and the travelling tappet D2, so that the engine stop gear is brought into action. The block Z is adjustable along dovetail guides on the rod Z2, and may be removed when coal is being wound.
