Brine, concentrating; bulk evaporators.-Hot producer-gas is used for evaporating brine, and is thereby cooled, in a pan b having a shallow depth of brine over the heating-flue 3 and a comparatively deep trough or troughs 1, 2 or other cavity for the salt to feed in. The gas may afterwards be passed through additional pans or through feed-heaters. In order to prevent escape of gas between the false bottom g and the base of the pan, a plate i projecting into a trough h filled with sand is arranged around the pan.
