Embossing. - In the production of figured, crape, and like effects on artificial silk and other fabrics, the fabric to be treated is subjected to pressure between a cotton or other fabric bearing the pattern and a thick felted backing-cloth while steam is passed through the fabrics. The process may be carried out by winding the three fabrics on a perforated drum to which steam is supplied. After steaming, the steam may be exhausted and air drawn through the fabrics to dry them.
