14,413. Cordonnery, E., and Dejoux, H. June 21. Feeding and drinking appliances for animals.--In a device for weaning kids and lambs, a hollow gag of tinned iron, horn, &c. comprises a central portion a with cylindrical ends b, c merging into larger ends d, e and separated therefrom by disks g, h. The part a has four apertures 1, 2, 3, 4 closed by a light flap k, and the ends d, e have openings m, n adapted normally to be closed by weighted valves o, p. The gag is held in position by a strap connected to the hooks i, j, and passed over the animal's head, an elastic nose band being connected to an aperture s in the disk g and to a hook t. When the lamb &c. lifts its head to suck, the valves o and the valve k are opened, and the animal sucks in air only. In a modification, the valves o are replaced by oscillating weighted valves closing apertures such as m, n in the disks g, h, stops limiting the movement of the valves.
