Jointing - apparatus; spigot-and-socket joints held by cement. - A device to facilitate jointing drain or other pipes, particularly in water-logged trenches, comprises a half-sleeve c which fits the lower surfaces of the assembled socket a and spigot b, and is held in place by cord or wire i. Cement e is then introduced to complete the joint. As shown, the cord i passes around lugs h. The sleeve may be of fire-clay, metal, cardboard, or other material. When of cardboard, it may be left permanently on the joint, but when of metal &c., it may be removed from the completed joint and used again.
