Wick burners, annular; extinguishing wickburners; oil reservoirs.-The adjustable wickholder C is closed at or near its upper end by a flame-extinguishing diaphragm C1 adapted to be drawn down into the lamp body. In the construction shown, the diaphragm is below the wick-tube top, and the flame openings F may be drawn below a guide-tube B. The heated vapour emitted from the extinguished burner passes through an opening H in one of the sleeves G supporting a hollow wick-tube adjusting-spindle E, and out through the spindle and an internal tubular non-conducting piece J.
