Improvements in Apparatus for Counting and Registering Units of Work Performed and Amounts of Wages Corresponding to the same.

Registering output of machines.-Relates to a counter for registering on one set of numeral drums the units of work performed by a machine, for example a loom, and upon a second set of drums the corresponding value, provision being made for setting the counter to count at any desired price per unit. Rotation of a shaft 2, Fig. 1, is transmitted by teeth 5 to a toothed wheel 6 having sets of slots 12', 122, 12' arranged on concentric circles as shown and staggered in sets of three so that no two of the slots are upon the same radius. Pins 13, 16, Fig. 4, are slidable in the slots 2 and are provided with detent means; when in the inner position each pin rocks, once in each rotation of the disk, the appropriate member of a set of three pawl-carrying levers 201, 202, 203, thereby rotating, by means of the pawls 24, ratchetwheels 26 attached to the three lowest typebearing drums Z1, Z2, Z' of the wages counter. Cam-projections 36 upon a wheel 3 secured to the driving-shaft 2 actuate similar lever-andpawl parts for registering the units of work upon the units wheel of the counter z1, z2, ... z5. Upon applying a key to the end of a shaft 50 and giving one complete turn, a spring platen 43, Fig. 4, is depressed and then released to effect a double impression from the type-wheels of the wages counter upon a record strip 60 which returns upon itself to pass immediately beneath each of two ink-ribbons 58, 59, a feeding-movement of the record-strip from a feedroll being also derived from the shaft 50. The Specification as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a) comprises also the adaptation of the above-described apparatus to register the picks woven by a loom. To the rear wall of the reciprocating shuttle-box of the lay b, Fig. 2 (Cancelled), is pivoted the upper end of a rod e which can rock with and also rotate in a spindle f1 carrying a holder f2, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), for a spring pawl g adapted to actuate the ratchet-wheel 3 and driving-shaft 2 of the wages counter. Normally, however, an arm m is interposed beneath a collar h upon the pawl, whereby the pawl is raised against the action of its spring i; but, upon the shuttle entering the shuttle-box, a tongue n is forced outwards, a slight rotation is given to the rod e thereby about its axis, and the disabling arm m. is disengaged to permit actuation. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
