Ticket systems; visual outdoor signals; slots, reversers, and like apparatus. - Apparatus for delivering ' line clear' tickets to passing trains is combined with a signalling-device for indicating to the driver of an approaching train whether the holder contains a 'line clear ' ticket or not. T h e holder is in the form of a clamp comprising upper and lower members a2, a3. The member a3 is carried by a tubular standard a' secured to a box a5, which is pivoted to a bracket b1 upon an arm b carried by a post c at the side of the track. A rubber cushion b' beneath the base of the box a5 serves to hold the standard normally vertical while allowing a slight oscillation transversely of the track. The member a2 is carried by a rod d mounted to slide vertically in the head a3 and standard a4, and a spring d2 for holding the member a2 in the clamping position is disposed between an internal shoulder d' on the member a3 and a collar d4 on the rod d. The signalling-device comprises two disks o, o1, of which the inner sides are painted alike with one colour or device, and the outer sides are painted alike with another colour or device. The disks are carried by counterweighted arms o2, o3 carrying horizontally-extending rods e, e1 respectively, the ends of which are supported in the box a5. When there is no ticket in the holder, the counterweights hold the rods e, e' in forward position with the disk o in front of the disk o' indicating that the line is blocked. To allow the insertion of a ticket in the holder, the disk o is moved by hand to ' line clear ' position to withdraw the end of the rod e from above the L-shaped lower end d1 of the rod d, and the member a2 is lifted by operating a lever d5 bearing beneath the collar d4. When the ticket is inserted, the end d1 is disposed opposite the end of the rod e and serves to lock the disk o in the ' line clear ' position. To set the mechanism for a train running in the opposite direction, the rod d is lifted and turned to bring its end d' opposite the end of the rod e'.
